Adoree Jackson Could Visit Illinois This Week

The five-star cornerback is home in Belleville and may make the trip up to Champaign on Wednesday.

I know it's a long shot, but five-star cornerback Adoree Jackson seems sincere in his interest in Illinois. At the end of May Jackson made it known that he wanted to visit Illinois over the summer, and a few days later when he released his top ten schools Illinois was on the list.

And according to 247Sports.com, it appears Jackson may be visiting Illinois this week.

Illinois could have Gardena (Calif.) Serra five-star cornerback Adoree' Jackson on campus as early as Wednesday. The Illini continue to battle for the Illinois native, who is also considering the likes of Florida, USC, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and UCLA.

While Illinois is considered a longshot for Jackson, the blue-chip recruit keeps in regular touch with his recruiter Mike Bellamy and the Illini coaching staff. He is currently spending time in his hometown of Belleville, Ill., which is just outside St. Louis and a short drive away from Champaign. Head coach Tim Beckman and his assistants will keep swinging and see what happens for the nation's No. 2 cornerback and No. 9 prospect overall according to the 247Composite.

Illinois will also host Saint Louis (Mo.) Lutheran North defensive end Renell Wren on Wednesday. The Illini offered during camp back in June. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Wren visited Purdue on Monday.

Now, I don't think Jackson is going to wind up at Illinois, because no matter how serious he is about the Illini as an option, I just have a very hard time believing the Illini can beat out schools like the other listed in the top ten for his commitment. Though an actual visit would be a great sign that it's possible.

Considering the shape of the football program at the moment, landing a five-star like Jackson after getting Wes Lunt would give this program a ton of momentum heading into the 2014 season.
