Cliff Alexander's Decision Won't Be Based On Where Okafor And Jones Go

Which would be good for Illinois.

USA TODAY Sports

It's been reported in the past, and we've written about it here, that Cliff Alexander has discussed the idea of going to the same school as Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones as part of a "package deal" of sorts. The kind of package many college coaches would love to open.

However, that idea isn't the best news to Illini fans, as Illinois just doesn't have the scholarship room to accomodate all three, and while Okafor is still expressing interest in Illinois, the same can't be said of Jones.

Well, there's some good news on that front. While Alexander has talked about the idea with his fellow five-stars, he's not beholden to it.

But this isn't entirely a package deal. Alexander's decision, he made clear Sunday, will have nothing to do with anyone else.

"It really doesn't matter to me," Alexander said of where Okafor and Jones decide to go.

And, to be honest with you, it doesn't really matter to me where Okafor and Jones go, either. As long as Cliff Alexander ends up at Illinois, anyway.
