I bet you thought that the 2013 football class was finished during signing day in February, I know I did. But guess what? We were wrong.
It was announced on Thursday morning that the Illini had received a commitment from a junior college tight end, but not for the 2014 class, but for the 2013 class.
JUCO TE Trevor Kanteman has committed to #Illinois and will be part of the 2013 class— Ryan Easterling (@RyanEasterling) May 23, 2013
Which means that Kanteman will be eligible to play this season and can join the team this summer.
Now, as for background on Kanteman, I don't have a whole hell of a lot to tell you. I do know that he suffered a knee injury and sat out all of last season at his junior college, but he also has four years of eligibility remaining. I also know that he's listed at 6'4, 245 pounds, though looking at the videos of him I'm not sure he's as big as he's listed.
Still, he does look like an intriguing prospect that could develop into something really worth having should he stay healthy and learn.
