Quarterback Chayce Crouch Commits To The Illini

The 2014 class has its fourth member and its first quarterback.

USA TODAY Sports

Some pleasant news to share about Illinois football as quarterback Chayce Crouch committed to the Illini on Wednesday night.

Crouch had a workout with offensive coordinator on Wednesday and apparently it went so well that after Cubit offered him a scholarship he went right ahead and accepted it.

Crouch is a 6'4 215-pound quarterback out of Newark Catholic High School in Newark, Ohio, and he led Newark Catholic to the Division VI state championship game last season.

He is not rated by any of the major recruiting services, but he had offers from Kent State, Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan, and he was also getting interest from Big Ten schools like Indiana, Michigan State, Northwestern and Penn State.

Crouch visited Champaign on an unofficial visit in April.
