Last week brought with it a bit of a surprise when it was announced that Brandon Miller was leaving the Illinoiscoaching staff to join the staff at Butler. Miller, whose official title was special assistant to the head coach, generally worked on video and advanced scouting for John Groce.
And now just a few days later, John Groce has found Miller's replacement, as the Illini have hired Toledo assistant Ryan Pedon to fill the void.

Pedon just finished his second season at Toledo, but he's been coaching since the 2000 season, exclusively in the MAC. He started at Miami University and was there a few years before leaving for Kent State. He would then return to Miami as an assistant coach before moving on to Toledo to become an assistant.
While his title in his last two stints was assistant coach, he was the director of operations at Kent State for three years, and his duties in that job were pretty much what Brandon Miller was doing here.
