When Tom stepped out for a little while tonight, I figured I would be safe only paying half attention because none of us expected any Illini to be drafted tonight. Well it's a good thing I didn't get in the shower yet.
With the 86th pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts selected Illinois OG Hugh Thornton. Obviously Thornton is the first Illini off the board, though he won't be the last by any means. For Colts fans coming over to learn some things about your new guard, welcome! You should hang around more. Or at least visit. Tom did a full write-up about him here, but if you want some quick and dirty info, I'm your man (read: summarizer).
Thornton is quick and does not quit. He's a pretty good run blocker, which makes sense seeing as what we do here at Illinois (other than lose). He still needs to improve at pass blocking, but should be fine.
