Here's something that could turn around the momentum of Tim Beckman's 2014 recruiting class in a hurry. On Friday Illinois offered five-star cornerback Adoree' Jackson a scholarship, and Jackson says he's interested.
"#Illinois just offered and I definitely have interst, that's where I'm from," Gardena (Calif.) Serra DB Adoree Jackson texted mins ago

I know, right?
Now, just because Jackson says he's interested, that's a long way from him actually committing to the Illini, whether he's originally from here or not. The California corner is currently ranked eighth overall by Rivals and he's the second ranked cornerback. And as tends to be the case when you're a five-star prospect rated that highly, you have a lot of scholarship offers.
Some of the other schools to have offered Jackson: Boise State, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC. Again, those are just some of his offers.
So that's what Tim Beckman and his staff are up against here, and if they're actually able to pull this off I'd expect NCAA violations at Illinois in the not-too-distant-future!
Seriously, though, if Jackson did end up in Champaign he'd be our first five-star recruit since both Arrelious Benn and Martez Wilson in the 2007 class.
