Given everything going on today in Boston it's hard to focus on anything else at the moment, but there is some good news to report in the context of Illinois football.
On Friday morning offensive lineman Corey Lewis tweeted that the NCAA had granted his waiver for a sixth year of eligibility.
Just got the OFFICIAL word for my 6th year approval from the NCAA. #godisgood

It's not an unexpected development, but it's one that is nice to know is now official.
Lewis has missed plenty of time thanks to five knee surgeries -- not three, not four, fucking five -- so if there's any athlete out there who deserves a sixth year of eligibility, it's Corey Lewis. I just hope he's able to stay healthy because those knees have enough scars.
