Kicker Nick Immekus Has Left The Football Team

UPDATE: The school and Immekus' family have since clarified that Immekus was not dismissed from the team but instead left the team on his own. Either way, he's no longer on the team.

Well, well, well, look who's out here scooping people.

A Lion Eye is reporting that kicker Nick Immekus has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules.

ANYWAY, starting kicker Nick Immekus has been dismissed from the team. A kind tweeterer - @michaelellars - pointed me to the fact that Immekus wasn't listed on the roster. So I contacted the school and found out that he's been dismissed from the team for an unspecified violation of team rules.

I don't know much more than that, other than the fact that this happened some time earlier this spring and wasn't a recent violation.

As Robert points out, Immekus missed time last season due to injury, but he was a perfect 10-for-10 on extra points and was good on four of his five field goal attempts. As for what impact this has on the team in 2013 I think it's safe to assume that Taylor Zalewski will be our kicker next season.

Let's just hope the offense is good enough that we'll need him.
