The Illini had another junior day over the weekend and they are already starting to feel the effects. On Monday night defensive end Tito Odenigbo became the first member of the 2014 class to commit to Illinois. As soon as I finished writing the post on Odenigbo and hit publish, guess what happened?
Yep, the Illini got their second commit for the 2014 class.
The newest member is offensive lineman Nick Allegretti from Lincoln-Way East in Frankfort, Illinois. Allegretti is a guard or a center depending on who you ask, but unlike a lot of the offensive linemen the Illini have added in recent years, this kid already has the size to play.
He's listed at 6'4 and 280 pounds and he was ranked as the #18 prospect in the state by EdgyTim.com.
While he doesn't have a star rating from Rivals just yet, Allegretti did have some nice offers. Allegretti's offers include Cincinnati, Northern Illinois, Toledo and Western Michigan, but he also had interest from other Big Ten schools like Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern and Wisconsin.
And now, if you don't mind me, I've got to go see if the Illini picked up a third recruit while I was writing this post.
