You may or may not be aware of it, but the Illinois baseball season starts today. Yep, that's right, your Illini baseball team is currently in Cookeville, Tennessee getting ready to start a three-game series against Tennessee Tech. Now, while there's no such thing as fantasy baseball for college, there is for MLB.
And The Champaign Room is starting a fantasy league just for you, our wonderful Champaigniacs. It's free to join, and while I have no idea what it will be, I'm thinking we'll hand out a prize for the winner at the end of the season. So if you want to join, just say so in the comments.
As for the settings of the league, things can and will change depending on how much interest there is, but a few things are pretty much set in stone.
1. The draft will be online on Tuesday March 26 at 7pm Central. This can be changed if it has to be, but I'd prefer not to.
2. It's a standard Head-to-Head league.
3. These are the stat categories we'll be using in the league: Hitters (Runs, Home Runs, RBI, Total Bases, Batting Average, On-base Percentage, Slugging Percentage, Net Stolen Bases), Pitchers (Innings Pitched, Strikeouts, Total Bases Allowed, ERA, WHIP, On-base Percentage Against, Quality Starts, Net Saves and Holds)
4. It'll be a daily league, so you can change your lineup every day, not just for the week.
Everything else is up for discussion. So are you interested in playing some fantasy baseball with the rest of your Illinois internet friends? Just let us know in the comments and we'll send you the invite.
First come, first serve, though if there's enough interest a second league can be created.
