B1G Basketball Diaries: A Pyrrhic Victory For Michigan State

Sparty whooped our ass in the second half to pick up the win, but not without a cost.

Michigan State 80 Illinois 75

Michigan State had a huge second half to comeback and beat the Illini, and you can read all about it in our recap of the game, but the win didn't come without a cost for the Spartans. Gary Harris had to leave the game with bask spasms, though it's not clear whether he's going to miss any games. However, Travis Trice took a blow to the face and it appears he may have suffered his second concussion of the season. If that's the case he's likely going to be out a while.

Iowa 76 Penn State 67

If you thought Michigan State shot a lot of free throws on Thursday night, then you should have seen the Hawkeyes. Iowa took 39 of those bastards, and I saw Iowa fans on Twitter complaining that the refs weren't calling anything. Silly Iowans.

Aaron White took 11 of those free throws and they helped him finish with a career high 27 points while Melsahn Basabe had a double-double in his first start of the year.
