We're in the midst of a transition at the Champaign Room and for these first few days, the news may be posted a bit later than we'd like. This is something that will be addressed and fixed.
Tim Beckman inked linebacker Tre Watson, a three-star recruit from Tampa, FL and the 15th commit in the 2014 class. Two days later, Beckman cashed in on his California recruiting trip by signing his 16th recruit, JUCO defensive lineman Siosifa (Joe) Fotu.

The #Illini want Watson to play inside, liking the versatility of his game. Can play the run and pass, and rush the QB. #247Composite 3-star

Illinois has great luck recruiting Florida. Watson isn't expected to be an immediate contributor on an Illini defense that desperately needs help--so much help--but the reports of a versatile pass rusher are always welcome. Watson chose Illinois over offers from schools including South Florida, UCF and Air Force.

Shout out to Illinois football for giving me this opportunity to ball with some of the best athletes! #IlliniNation #blueandorange 💯🏈

Fotu goes by "Joe," and that's about all I know about him. The highlight video shows Fotu making plenty of plays with his speed, but, obviously, that's against much lesser competition at the JUCO level. Might have to be a bit bigger than 6'3"-275 to push people around in the B1G.
