As you may have read last week, The Champaign Room's founder and editor-in-chief Tom Fornelli stepped down from his post to focus on life and other endeavors. This site started from nothing, steadily grew, and now finds itself as a staple in the Illini community, as evident from the comments on Tom's farewell note and the "Where's Champaign Room tonight?" on social media yesterday. He did a fine job and we wish him well.
But with those farewells and best-of-lucks in order, it's time to move forward.
Therefore, I'd like to introduce myself as the new editor-in-chief of the Champaign Room.
I've been with the Champaign Room as a contributor for almost a year, writing about roundball and the Indiana game and being a senior and all the rest. I'm going to give you the take of a passionate fan because that's what I am, and that's what you are too. Did you cry a puddle of orange and blue tears after that stomach punch in Oregon last night? Of course you did. We all did. From here on out, we'll be crying those tears together.
I'm excited about this new gig, about writing on Illinois and about interacting with all of you. If you have any suggestions for the site, please post something in the comments, shoot me an email at jcassidy018@gmail.com, or tweet at me--@jcassidy10.
Illinois fandom is heartbreak followed by bliss followed by heartbreak. I'm excited to share it with y'all because that's not something you can healthily handle alone.
I-L-L...
