This is a decision that I've been wrestling with for a few weeks now, but it's a decision that I've finally made. In all likelihood, this will be the last post I ever write for The Champaign Room. There are a myriad of reasons that I've made this decision, but instead of going into detail about each and every one, I'll just say that it's what I've decided is the right thing to do for me.
I've loved writing this site.
I've loved the people at SBNation, and I feel bad about putting them in this position.
I've loved interacting with all of you, whether here in the comments or on Twitter.
The last 14 months since I created this site have been a blast. But it just can't continue. At least, not with me at the helm. Speaking of which, if you're interested in taking over this wonderful site, let SBNation know. Contact Luke Zimmermann at luke.zimmermann@sbnation.com and let him know. Just because I'm leaving doesn't mean this site shouldn't continue.
As for me, I'll miss you. All of you. Well, not you. But everyone else.
I'd like to thank everybody at SBNation for giving me the chance to start this site and take it as far as I could, and I'd like to thank them for understanding my decision.
I'd like to thank Will Leitch for contributing to the site right from the start and helping me give this site a sort of legitimacy right from the very start. I think it made a huge difference in helping this site get to where it is today.
And of course I'd like to thank Mark Primiano, Jack Cassidy and Brandon Birkhead for helping along the way. It's been great working with the three of them throughout this project and they made my job here so much easier.
Oh, and I'd like to thank John Groce for making me feel optimistic about the future of the basketball program for the first time in a long time. As for Tim Beckman, well, good luck coach. I sincerely hope you get the football program turned around. We'd all be better off for it.
Farewell, Champaign Room. It's been a blast.
