Illini Open Up As 10-Point Underdogs Against Penn State

Our quest to cover a Big Ten spread continues.

Matthew O'Haren-USA TODAY Sports

What do you get when you send a team that just lost by 39 on Homecoming to face a team that just lost by 46 on the road and has given up 40 points or more in three straight games?

You get a 10-point spread, that's what.

The early lines are out and according to the folks in Vegas Penn State is a 10-point favorite over Illinois in State College next week.

The game will be at 11am on ESPN.

I know you're excited about it.

Also, in case you aren't depressed enough as it is, the Illini aren't only 0-3 in the Big Ten this season, but they're 0-3 against the spread against Big Ten opponents as well. In fact, the Illini haven't covered a spread against a Big Ten opponent since the Purdue game last season.

But I guess a 4-game non-covering streak is better than a 17-game losing streak.
