It was a year ago today that The Champaign Room was birthed into existence with this post. I have to say, it's been a pretty great first year, even if we're yet to have a Big Ten football win to write about. But it's all right, we're still somewhat optimistic about the future of the program, even if things don't appear all that bright right now.
Plus we still have basketball!
We were basically a bad call away from seeing a Sweet Sixteen run from our Illini last season, and everything John Groce has done during his first year with the program has us dreaming big about the future. Even if this season turns out to be a struggle.
Of course, what we really appreciate is the way that this community has grown over the first year. We aren't where we want to be, but our community continues to expand month by month, and we want to make sure that it keeps growing over the years to come.
And we also know that in order for that to happen we need to keep producing content you want to read about and discuss with like-minded individuals. So that's what we're going to keep trying to do.
We hope you enjoyed the first year as much as we did. And we hope you enjoy the next year even more.
I-L-L!
