B1G Basketball Diaries: A New Number One

No need to send us a thank you card, Michigan.

Joe Robbins

Michigan 74 Illinois 60

Read about how much better Michigan is than the Illini right here.

Indiana 75 Michigan State 70

Of course, while Michigan may be the new #1, they're still only tied for first in the Big Ten with Indiana after the Hoosiers beat Michigan State. This was easily the best game of the day if only for the reason that I had so much fun watching Victor Oladipo. Oladipo finished with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks and 6 steals.

I also enjoy watching Cody Zeller shrink from the spotlight. As I tweeted during the game yesterday, that young man is going to get an NBA general manager fired some day.

Purdue 65 Iowa 62

Purdue is now 4-3 in the Big Ten, putting the Boilermakers in sixth place. Of course, those four wins are against Illinois, Penn State, Nebraska and now Iowa, meanwhile its three losses are against Michigan State, Ohio State and Michigan so we probably shouldn't put much faith in them at this point.
