B1G Basketball Diaries: Michigan State Is Right On Schedule

The same thing happens every damn year.

Mary Langenfeld-USA TODAY Sports

Michigan State 49 Wisconsin 47

It happens every damn year. Michigan State gets off to a slow start and everybody wants to know "what's wrong with Michigan State? Do you think this is the year the Spartans finally fall off? Could it be karma for all those hookers that Tom Izzo killed?" It happens every season but then Big Ten play rolls around and suddenly Michigan State is just fine, thanks.

Now, it certainly wasn't pretty, but the Spartans extended their lead in the Big Ten with a win in Madison on Tuesday night thanks to 19 points from Keith Appling and 18 from Branden Dawson. Sparty is now 6-1 in the conference with a full game lead over Michigan and Indiana.

Ohio State 72 Iowa 63

Ohio State's inability to put their foot on Iowa's throat in this game caused Illini fans to miss the first few minutes of the Nebraska game last night. The Buckeyes had a 53-29 lead in this game with just under 13 minutes to play but then Iowa went on a 30-10 run to cut that lead to 63-59 with a minute left. Unfortunately for Iowa the dream died there thanks to missed shots and free throws.

Though that didn't stop those assholes from fouling and using all their timeouts to delay the inevitable for as long as possible.
