As I wrote about last week there are a couple question marks remaining in Illinois' 2013 recruiting class because some of our commits aren't truly committed as of yet. However, there are at least ten players who won't be changing their minds before signing day.
And that's because they're already enrolled. Why, if you're reading this in class one of them may be sitting right next to you. How freaky is that?"All of our early enrollees who started classes today are outstanding players who fill areas of need," said Tim Beckman in a release. "The fact that five young men graduated high school early in order to get started here speaks volumes for their character as well as the academic support system that we have in place here at the University of Illinois. It shows that they're willing to go above and beyond and will do whatever it takes to succeed at this level.
"I'm excited about all 10 student-athletes who started their college careers today. To bring in 10 guys early, that's probably one of the highest numbers in the country. I'm very proud of the coaching staff and our academic staff for the way they recruited these young men and got them to believe in Illinois football and where we're headed. The fact that they're starting classes this week and getting to experience college football this spring will be huge for them as they compete for playing time in 2013."
Anyway, the enrollees include all five of our juco transfers -- hooray for admissions! -- and five freshmen. They are:
Juco signees
-- WR Martize Barr
-- DT Abe Cajuste
-- STAR Eric Finney
-- OL Dallas Hinkhouse
-- S Zane Petty
Freshmen
-- DB Dillan Cazley
-- OL Jesse Caldwell
-- OL Christian Dilauro
-- DB Darius Mosely
-- OL Austin Schmidt
The best part of all this is that there are four new offensive linemen on campus and ready to work out with the team this spring. Please fix everything, okay? No pressure.
