Ty Johnson was a 4-star prospect in the Class of 2011 basketball recruiting class, and ranked 52nd overall by Rivals. He ended up committing to Villanova but things never really worked out all that well for him there, so in November he announced that he'd be transferring from the school.
And it appears that Johnson will choose between two schools, one of which is Illinois.
Former Villanova guard Ty Johnson will likely transfer to either Illinois or South Carolina, per a source....

Now Johnson obviously hasn't chosen Illinois yet, but if he does it would be good news for John Groce and Illinois basketball. While Johnson averaged only 3.3 points and 2.0 assists while playing 17 minutes a game as a freshman at Villanova, he's the kind of guard that fits well into Groce's system.
He's a 6-foot-3 guard that is very aggressive on the offensive end and can handle the basketball. In other words, he's the kind of talent that could not only fit in Groce's system, but possibly flourish.
Johnson would be eligible to play in the 2013-14 season.
