UPDATE
Well that didn't last long. After committing to the Illini on Tuesday Guthrie went on a visit to New Mexico on Wednesday and flipped his commitment right back to New Mexico. Recruiting, ladies and gentlemen!
---------------
The Juco Train keeps on rolling through Champaign.
The Illini added their 27th recruit of the 2013 class on Wednesday, as junior college safety David Guthrie committed to the Illini. It's somewhat ironic. Tim Beckman replaces Ron Zook and then Bruce Weber is fired and goes to Kansas State. After that, Tim Beckman turns our football program into Kansas State.
Which is fine with me if we want to go 11-1 and get to a BCS bowl next season.
Guthrie is 5-foot-11 and 196 pounds. He was previously committed to New Mexico and the sophomore's been playing at College of the Siskiyous. What the hell is a Siskiyous? It sounds like something you make up while you're high, and oh by the way, the school is located in Weed, California.
Yes, the town is named Weed.
Guthrie had 53 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, 3 passes broken up and 5 interceptions last season. He's the seventh juco commit in our 2013 class.
