Illinois Basketball legend Dee Brown has been inducted into the Illinois High School Basketball Hall of Fame. Brown, who attended Proviso East high school, finished his prep career as the school's all-time leader in scoring, assists and steals, and averaged 25.6 points, 5.5 assists and 2.9 steals per game as a senior. Brown was named Illinois Mr. Basketball in 2002 before continuing his playing career in Champaign.
Fellow Illini Lowell Hamilton (Providence-St. Mel), Bill Altenberger (East St. Louis), Walter Evers (Collinsville), Fred Green (Urbana), Ken Menke (Dundee), and Gene Vance (Clinton) have also been honored with inductions.
Some other notable names include Chris Collins (Glenbrook North), Tim Hardaway (Carver), Cuonzo Martin (East St. Louis Lincoln), and the late Ben Wilson (Simeon).
