Arrelious Benn Tore His ACL And Will Miss Entire NFL Season

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

Which just sucks for Arrelious Benn.

We've spent quite a bit of time around here talking about Adoree Jackson and hoping beyond hope that maybe, just maybe, Jackson will commit to the Illini. If he did he'd be the first five-star recruit to do so since both Martez Wilson and Arrelious Benn did in the 2007 class.

And that's just a painfully forced segue into some bad news out of Philadelphia Eagles camp.

That just absolutely sucks for Arrelious. With Jeremy Maclin going down with the same injury and Riley Cooper compounding a bad decision to go to a Kenny Chesney concert by deciding to sound like a racist idiot while there, Benn had a very good shot at seeing quite a bit of the field for the Eagles in 2013.

Now he'll be spending the next year rehabbing this ACL. The good news for Arrelious is that his contract runs through the 2014 season so he should have a chance with the Eagles again next season. It's just he really could have made a huge impact in Chip Kelly's offense this year.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.
