The Big Ten handed out some hardware Monday night.

The Big Ten handed out its postseason awards on Monday night, and there wasn't a whole lot of reason for Illini fans to pay attention to. Trey Burke was named the conferece's player of the year, Bo Ryan was the coach of the year and unless you played for Indiana, Michigan or Ohio State, you weren't being named First Team.

The only two Illini players to be mentioned on Monday night were Brandon Paul and D.J. Richardson.

Both Brandon and D.J. were named All-Big Ten Third Team by the coaches, as seniors tend to get more love from the coaches in these things. However, Brandon was named All-Big Ten Third Team by the media as well, while D.J. only got honorable mention.

Good for them.

Though when you consider that Richardson was a better player than Paul during the Big Ten season, it does seem a bit off that Brandon would get recognized on both teams and D.J. only one. Though I suppose many of these votes are on reputation, anyway.
