The Hawkeyes had a big win in their grasp but let it slip away
Minnesota 62 Iowa 59
Iowa is kind of like Illinois this season, in that it picked up a lot of non-conference wins but has struggled quite a bit in Big Ten play. The difference between the Hawkeyes and the Illini is that Iowa doesn't have a signature win.
It nearly had one on Sunday.
Eric May converted a three-point play to give Iowa a 59-55 lead with 2:12 left and then Iowa wouldn't score again. Minnesota would go ahead on an Austin Hollins with 14 seconds left and two more free throws from Andre Hollins after a steal by Austin Hollins would seal it. All of which means that, short of a Big Ten tournament run, the Hawkeyes will be watching the NCAA tournament at home with the Illini.
Wisconsin 74 Illinois 68
The most misleading six-point deficit ever.
