Cody Zeller Blues

Cody Zeller was a very talented college basketball player and a major reason why Indiana was good at basketball and stuff last season.

Cody has a lot going for him. He is athletic for a tall, white guy, proven by the hard-to-believe 35.5" inch vertical leap Cody managed at the NBA Combine. He can shoot the rock, as his college FT (76%) and FG (quite high) percentages show.

Achilles had his heel.

Cody has his T-Rex arms.

A concern with Zeller was always that he would struggle against bona fide professionals because of his below-average wingspan. This concern became more real when Cody struggled against Syracuse's tall, athletic defense in Indiana's Sweet Sixteen loss.

So, how is Cody doing in the NBA? Poorly, and he is not finishing in the paint well, according to this shot chart.

Disclaimers:

1. I have watched zero minutes of Cody Zeller playing professional basketball so I cannot confirm that Zeller is in fact suffering from TRexArmitis, and not merely in a shooting slump.

2. Cody has played a small part of his rookie season in the NBA, so maybe this is a rush to judgment, though you will forgive me.
