The following are true:
1. Tim Beckman at Illinois is 2-0 against the MAC. He may have lost a game critical to bowl eligibility on Saturday, but at least it wasn't to Western Michigan. In fact, both MAC victories under Beckman were dominant throughout. Regardless of the quality of opponent, Tim Beckman's Illini have never lost to the MAC.
2. Offense last year was undeniably a problem. It has much improved due to Tim Beckman recognizing this problem and throwing Bill Cubit at it.
3. The backup quarterback hasn't been accused of choking a girl at a party, and no linebackers have missed time with bullet wounds this year. Our players have not been a menace to the community this season.
4. Special teams are not among the nation's worst this year. It's getting to the point where I no longer dread punt returns. This was the most consistently terrible thing about the Illini over the last five years and Tim Beckman's staff has drastically improved it.
There are other arguments for and against retaining Tim Beckman, but these are four unassailable claims.
